How to Stick to a Healthy Life Mid-Life.

Are you feeling trapped by financial decisions? Experiencing a decline in physical health? Or fretting about goals that have not been achieved? These are just some of the challenges we face mid-life.

According to a recent study published in the BMC Public Health Journal it shows that a substantial proportion of the population in the UK are already suffering from multiple long term physical and mental health problems in their 40’s. A stage in our lifecycle many of us will be blessed to reach yet it poses many mental, emotional and physical challenges. Already one in three British adults are suffering from two or more chronic health conditions mid-life such as back problems, mental ill health, high blood pressure, diabetes and high-risk drinking.

So let’s work together to…

-improve physical health

-improve mental health

-generate more energy

-boost your mood

-prevent the onset of disease

-save on private healthcare

-live with a sense of purpose

The more years you live a healthy, happy lifestyle, the greater the likelihood that you will experience good health and happiness into old skeletons!

So how do you stick to a healthy lifestyle?

Habit stacking- Link one habit with another like a journal next to the bed lamp so you can journal your feelings down before you sleep.

  1. Take small steps- When we envision the top step on the ladder it appears overwhelming so only focus on the first step- that you can do!

  2. Track your progress- we need to remind ourselves of the progress we are making so when we doubt ourselves we can see how far we have come and recognise any patterns in our growth.

  3. Reward yourself- I bet you are often your biggest critic! Well now you are going to be your own biggest cheerleader and celebrate every action taken- you deserve to!

  4. Know your purpose- Whether you need to do this for yourself- for peace of mind for the future or you want to age well or for those who need you to show up for them- remind yourself daily. Put up a picture that reflects your purpose so when you are being challenged you rise up to it.

Create the habits now to avoid mid life pitfalls in the future and if you need help creating a healthy lifestyle book a free consultation today.
